Enrolled my 9 year old daughter in July 2016 for Muay Thai Kickboxing. I can't say enough positive things about this class, the students, teachers and Guru Ed. Guru Ed has a system that breaks down the punch and kick combinations into small sub-sets that are built upon for larger combinations. The vibe in the class is very positive. Everyone is nice and respectful to each other and upon entry of any new student, the existing students line up to introduce themselves. My daughter absolutely loves it! At the end of each class is circle time for a discussion that centers around respect for each other and for oneself. Guru Ed is not only teaching self defense, but life lessons that can be utilized in the future and accompany them as they continue on through life. As a parent, I am more than satisfied and it makes me happy that my daughter is so at home and happy here at SEAMAA. Keep up the great work Guru Ed!

We cannot say enough about this program! We were looking for a martial arts program for our son, who is on the autism spectrum. We did a free trial and were so pleased with everything we saw! We also signed up his younger sister. The skills and drills are just part of it. We also appreciate the life lessons and values this program emphasizes - things they can carry with them their entire lives and apply at school and elsewhere. The younger coaches are amazing role models. We highly recommend giving SEAMMA a try!

I receive Silat instruction from Guru Ed. He is very detailed and knowledgable, and he tailors an individual's training to their skill level. The class is fun and safe, and everybody I have met there has been super nice as well. Highly recommend!

I've never taken any martial arts before, so I decided to dive right in at SEAMAA and take Muay Thai and both Silat classes with Guru Ed.  There has yet to be a class I've walked out of not feeling stronger and having learned something new.  Even though these are group classes, Guru Ed makes sure to spend a little time with everyone to work on our specific needs.

Every class I've been to thus far has been intense, albeit the Muay Thai is physically intense where as the Silat classes are emotionally intense.  And guess what, I'm having a lot of fun while I'm at it, too!  I'd highly recommend his school.

Looking for a martial arts instructor that really mentors that is moral, ethical and has knowledge of both traditional arts that come's through to real life application is difficult. Guru Ed is one in a million! I am someone who is a bit high strung. I find mediation and yoga extremely difficult, and yet I have incorporated it into my life. Guru Ed has not only guided me to excel as a person but has educated me in Silat, Kali, and Muay Thai. Thank you Guru Ed!

I highly recommend SEAMAA and the expert training of Guru Ed and Guru Jeff. Your child(ren) will learn self-discipline, self-control, self-respect, trust and self-love as they develop the discipline and the art of Martial Arts. Guru Ed and Guru Jeff have a passion for teaching children and teach their students to believe in themselves and dig deep within to develop and accomplish physical and mental goals they believe they could not.

My son (9 y/o) has been attending SEAMAA for a little over one year and likes it very much.  The owner of SEAMAA and head teacher Guru Ed Greene promotes a positive environment for children to learn Martial Arts.  My son is taking Muy Thai, Kung Fu and weapons training. Along with martial arts training, Guru Ed incorporated positive re-enforcement of good habits and good citizenship through discussions with the children at the end of the training session. He even takes 5 to 10 minutes at the very end to play games that promote various skills but yet they enjoy.  Lastly, if you are familiar with children in the 7-11 y/o range, they are easily distracted.  Guru Ed has the right temperament for dealing with these kids. I am very impressed with him as I would have lost my patience with them.  :-)

Overall, I would recommend SEAMAA as good martial arts school for your children.  In addition, for anyone that is interested, SEAMAA does offer classes for teens and adults.

    I highly recommend SEAMAA.
My son started in the trail classes and later we enrolled him for full time. It is a great place with expert trainers who teach children self-control, respect, discipline and art of martial arts. The expert trainers and Guru Ed spend their qualitative time with everyone to work based on kids needs. Overall it is a very good place with best trainers who can drive the children to the right path.
    Thank you SEAMAA.

  • Chris O., Southeast Asian Martial Arts Academy (SEAMAA) Testimonials

I have known Guru Ed for almost 10 yrs. After devoting time towards a family I decided to look him up and saw that he was still teaching Silat about 45 min away from me! An art we both took under a different teacher years ago. Before then, I looked at other schools locally but it never seemed like a good fit. After a few classes with Ed it was like being back with family. Ed has the ability to make the classes easy to follow. He lets you advance at your own progression yet encourages you to take it one step further.
He actually enjoys teaching and I can attest that he is a good teacher. Whether its a rare one on one class or a room of 12 people, Ed focuses on everyone and not a select few. He is polite, respectful and is willing to help with anything you may not understand. Something I see in his students every time I go. Thanks Ed for your Love of the Art.
